The Tail Of The Dragon S2000 Run

If your not familiar with the best road on the East coast, then you must live in a hole in the ground. Make sure to mark your calendar and make deals with the devil, whatever you have to do to attend Wake the Dragon 2011 April 15-17th. The Tail of the Dragon is located in the Smokey Mountains in the Tennessee/North Carolina border, once your hear you will find 318 turns in 11 miles. Holy Shit.....YES! (And the epic roads just don't stop there) I personally have never enjoyed driving the car more or meeting faces from the board, than at this event. Plan on seeing tons of S2000's at this event. What you will need to do is get your car ready, as will I. I would highly recommend to anyone planning on attending to have all maintenance done and fluids changed in preparation. Good tires are important as well, plan to bring extra oil and general tools i.e. torque wrench and tire pressure gauge etcetera. I will be updating as I perform the same maintenance to my own car and hopefully aid in other. I can also work on a checklist for others. Another thing to keep in mind is where the lodging is located in the past there has been nothing open at night or no place near to get beer (or food?) to survive a night in the mountains.  Prior planning will prevent piss poor performance.

HKS Hi-Power Exhaust 75mm!

If your looking for a new exhaust consider an HKS High Power 75mm. For as long as I can remember I have been fond of HKS exhaust on anything, sound, and styling. However, for some reason I have never owned one, it was time. So I called up Evasive Motorsports to have one sent to me. Here are some impressions, $638.00 is a great value for price, try to follow along and keep in mind $638.00 (stainless steel construction) and not an (titanium) exhaust costing $1638.00. The box that arrived was packaged very well, opened the box up and immediately pulled everything out. What you will find is B pipe, axle back with muffler, adjustable tip, gaskets and hardware, added hanger,  decal, and instructions in English. Yes, instructions in English, there was no pictures but at least they contain step by step instructions (I know its an exhaust you don't need them but it is still nice). Welds, the welds are very nice where they need to be (the muffler) at the flanges the welds are fine as they well not break however don't plan on impressing anyone with a roll of dimes. Still good value for price. Fitment, this is great! Everything lines up perfectly! The muffler is quite large and exposed which I have always been a huge fan of. Power gains. I have not seen any dyno charts, so I am not going to say it adds any more or less, but I was running a J's Racing 70RR previously and I feel a torque gain in the midrange. Weight this is a heavy weight champion weighing in at 32 pounds, so if you feel as you need to drop every pound you can, I may shy away from this, keep in mind Evasive runs this same exhaust on there Time Attack S2000. Sound, this exhaust is becoming my favorite sounding S2000 exhaust, it carries the traditional HKS sound with it, its quiet on start up and city driving. At highway speeds the exhaust note is not intrusive, so you will still be able to carry on conversations in the car or listen to music. Wide open throttle this exhaust really screams but, if its back roads your driving on you still wont cause to many people to take notice of you. (This is what I was really shooting for.) Drone, you will find that on deceleration through mid-range that the exhaust is bassey falling with the RPM's, but you always like to be reminded you have an after market exhaust right?  So, all in all if you want a nice exhaust with great value for money and you like the above review, go ahead and pull the trigger on this exhaust. Don't forget to throw a test pipe in with your order!

Sometimes It Just Works

I was flipping through some magazines as normal trying to determine if there was anything worth my money and came across Brians S2000 feature.(Modified Magazine January 2011) He chose the full ASM aero route. In taking the plunge obviously you need to have Mugen Hardtop of coarse, but he took it a step further and added a J's Racing Wing for that added downforce. But what I think really sets the car off is the Volk CE28N's in +22 offset in the rear. It just fits so well and has the right amount of concave on the rear. As noted in the magazine the ASM tow hook, this will probably be the first time you ever read an article and the tow hook is mentioned.  Thats would be because the status of the car is set off exterior wise more than anything else by the hook.

Since he tracks his car suspension was not left untouched. Ohlins coilovers with custom valving really tie everything together with the rest of the upgrades. If you didn't notice the front mount intercooler it was because you were admiring the Tow Hook, but I wouldn't blame you. His car is supercharged with a Comptech centrifugal blower I have always liked these kits especially coupled with a custom intercooler plumbing instead of the normal aftercooler. But what I like to see is a real battery in the car. By that I mean there is not a tiny aesthetic battery under the hood to me that tells me that the car is driven quite often and needs to start, I always like to see stuff like that.

Moving on to the interior this is where everything goes wild! First thing I notice is the gorgeous ASM Recaros, followed by the ASM floor mats. Another look you will notice the NSX-R horn button and Stack cluster. I have always found it is difficult to make have a unique interior on a S2000 but this car sure does. The car is amazing all around with the all white and subtle hints of red touches here and there. It really makes this car awesome, Congrats on your Feature!!!!

Cold Start

I am brand new to blogs so give me some time to figure it out. I need some cars to "blog" about.
